The Barbadian groups Blackbelly Sheep, LLC and Q—New York, LLC honored Barbadian radio pioneer Neville Bush last Saturday night for his contribution to radio in the Caribbean community in New York. Ron Simon, president and founder of both groups, told Caribbean Life that Bush and two other community figures were honored during a ceremony at Nazareth Hall in Brooklyn for their "outstanding work throughout the Diaspora for decades." Simon said Nikita Robinson was honored for "academic excellence" and Archie "Killer" Miller for "40-plus years of service." Bush, whose real name is Neville Bushell, told Caribbean Life that he started playing Caribbean music in 1975 on his Caribbean Pepperpot program on WHBI. Worrell, the Trinidadian-American founder, chief vibes officer and band leader of I AM CARIBBEING and Little Caribbean in East Flatbush and Flatbush in Brooklyn, says she’s “honored” to portray “Sailing Di Parkway” for the massive West Indian American Day Carnival Parade on Eastern Parkway, Brooklyn, for Labor Day Monday. “Sailing Di Parkway’ is our interpretation of Sailor Mas, which originated in Trinidad and Tobago,” Worrell told Caribbean Life in an interview at the mas camp, at Little Caribbean’s headquarters, on Nostrand Avenue, between Linden Boulevard and Martense Street, in Brooklyn. “But there are iterations in Guadeloupe. Resorts World NYC, NYPD bring holiday cheer to Queens families

The laughter of children and the joy of the holiday season filled Resorts World New York City (RWNYC) last December as the casino partnered with the NYPD to host a Christmas event that brightened the lives of more than 110 children and their families. The collaboration, spearheaded by Michelle Stoddart, senior vice president of Community Development and Public Affairs for Resort World NYC, and Chief Kevin Williams, commanding officer of Patrol Borough Queens South, marked the first of its kind between the two organizations. Families of police officers from all eight precincts under Chief Williams’ jurisdiction gathered for a day of celebration, kindness, and connection.
